Library membership is free to all residents of Tay Township. You can sign up at any branch for a card. Anyone wishing to become a member must present identification with their current address.

There is no age restriction for obtaining a card, but youth under the age of 16 will require a parent or guardian’s signature.

A PIN is necessary to access your Library Account over the internet.

When you register for a Library Card at the Tay Township Public Library you are automatically given a PIN. This PIN is the 4 digits before the last number on the back of your library card.

No. For confidentiality assurance we require you to present your library card each and every time you check out items.

The maximum number of items you can borrow on one card is 30 items. This includes a maximum of 5 electronics media (DVDs, Blu-Rays, video games, and audiobooks) as well as a maximum of 3 magazines per card.

  • Books and audiobooks can be borrowed for 3 weeks.
  • DVDs, Blu-Rays, video games and magazines are 1 week loans. 
  • High demand items have shortened checkout periods. 
Items can be renewed a maximum of 2 times as long as there are no holds on the item. High demand items and Interlibrary loans (Illos) cannot be renewed.

Yes. The Library does charge fines for overdue materials. Click here to see our list of overdue fines.

If the item is overdue for a significant amount of time the Library deems the item as lost and you will be charged the cost of the item as well as a $3.00 lost processing fee.

The Tay Township Public Library provides courtesy overdue notices via email or telephone. Materials may be returned to any Tay Township Public Library branch. Drop boxes are available at all our branches to return materials after library hours.

No, we can only accept cash or cheques.

The Library will keep an item on hold until the hold is filled. However, when an item comes in staff will notify you and the item will be held for you to pick up for 4 days. After this time if you have not picked up the item it will return to circulation.

High demand items will be held for pick up for 2 days.

You will need your Library card number and pin to login to the app. 

Yes, but you MUST present their library card.

Yes, all 3 branches have wireless internet. The wireless is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Login information is posted in the Library for everyone to use.

Yes, all 3 branches offer printing services from the public access computers. The cost is $0.25 per page.

Yes, all 3 branches provide faxing services. The cost is $1.00 for the first page and $0.50 for each additional page. To receive a fax at the Library the cost is $0.25 per page and the fax must be addressed to you.

Tay Township Library does offer basic computer and device assistance. Depending on the question, an appointment may be needed.
