Seed Library

What is a Seed Library?

A seed library is a great way to have fun, build community with fellow gardeners, and support people who are new to the world of gardening.

How does it work?

Seed Library members “borrow” seeds and take them home to grow. At the end of the growing season, they save the seeds from the plant and return a portion of the seeds to the library.

How do I get my seeds?

Seed Library members are allowed to take a maximum of 10 seed packets per growing season, per household. You can register for the Seed Library with the printable form here, or by visiting your closest branch and filing out the form in-person.

What seeds are available?

This year we have over 180 varieties of seeds to choose from, thanks to generous donations from the community and Midland Giant Tiger. Stop by a branch to see the catalogue, or browse our selection of seeds here.

For further information on gardening and starting your own seeds, check our collection of books and other items available to borrow from the Library.
